One of my most favorite movies of all time is “The Planet of the Apes” (1968). Whenever I glimpse that it’s on tv, I would have to pry myself from it because of its magnetic effect on me. What is it about this movie that has me in
such a grip? It tickles at my subconscious profound truths that parallel the ape’s world with our own. Watching ‘them’ from an outside perspective creates a loophole around my preconditioned beliefs about ourselves and helps me to objectively understand who we are as a species.
So who are we anyways? Better yet, who do we think we are? We call ourselves, Homo Sapiens Sapiens for “wise man”, or “knowing man”. We have exalted ourselves beyond those of the animal kingdom and have even called ourselves ‘divine’ beings. Oh really, are we all that special or is it that we are just especially egotistic? I vote the latter. We might be so narcissistic in our egotism that we would turn a blind eye to anything that was superior to us. Kind of like the monkeys that see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil.
I have a theory, that instead of being the best, brightest, the most beautiful beings that ever walked this earth, that we actually occupy a small corner in earth's history of the fantastic lifeforms that has occupied it over the last 3
billion years. So it is my purpose to produce the evidence that has been presented to me over time, that directed me to these conclusions. Now don’t get me wrong. It is not my purpose to defecate on mankind's glory out of some animosity I
have for him. Better that you understand my position that man is just another animal, a primate on this planet, although with some extraordinary gifts. But I continually ask myself. Were we the first to civilize this planet?
Here is an article that may substantiate my theory that we were not the first nor the best. The so called 'gods' were probably just those that came before us and then moved on, or, are still here as our overlords walking our streets
without a second glance. Scientists say that a Neanderthal could have walked our streets and would have fit in. Ok maybe the women would look a little butch, but I know plenty of guys that just wouldn't mind being more than a little
roughhoused. Alright, back to the article.. It's a story of the Boskops, a hominid that existed just 10000 years ago, that had physical qualities our scientists argue would yield to a more sophisticated mind, superior to our own. Oh I just can't
help myself jump on it!! Isn't this time frame of 10000 years the often discussed destruction of the super civilization called Atlantis? Ok, calm down and stop letting my imagination overrun my objectivity. But what's more distracting?
Atlantis or a sexy muscular Neanderthal woman that can rip my head off? Here is the article...

"The Planet of the Apes" seems so much closer to the truth than ever, except if you pardon my audacity for saying, that WE ARE THE APES this time. But if that were true then where are the ruins of these huge and massive cities of the
Gods? As portrayed in the movie, these remains were still intact in 'the forbidden zone' after 2000 years. Could the remains of a massive city still be in existence after 10000 years? This is ofcourse assuming they produced populations like we do. Maybe they didn't. It is already well known that the more intelligent and educated people become, the less offspring they tend to produce. Why? Maybe these societies plan it this way for the express purpose of enriching the individual's culture, education and available resources. If overpopulation increases depravity, ignorance and a tendency for war, why support it? A mark of a more superier culture is one that controls its population as opposed to us who's population runs amuck like a pack of frenzied ‘rats’ swallowing every drop of resource within reach. This kind of
competition may have overwhelmed the more sophisticated species so long ago, and if interbreeding between us was possible, they could have been outbred out of existence. This is the same argumeht that is being heatedly discussed about the
Neanderthal. Did we outbreed them out of existence with their remnants encoded in our genome? Heads would have rolled on occassion but I'm sure that wouldn't have stopped us. Wouldn't stop me... Returning to the evidence of surviving ruins,
this can best be expressed by the "life After People" series on the history channel. It is a must see if you want to understand how impermanant and fleeting our creations are. New York City, in one thousand years with no maintainance from
people, the fact that it even existed would not be recognized. It would be just another forested island in its place. So what could possibly be left after 10,000 years? 90% of our population tends to hug the coastlines. If that were true for a
successful city building population 10,000 years ago, the remains of these cities would be underwater thanks to global warming and rising sea levels. Sorry Al. It is estimated that the sea level has risen by some 400 feet. Whatever did exist then would most likely have been eroded away by the ocean waves as the sea levels rose. It is now up to the newly hatched, fledgling, underwater archaeologists to discover what lies there under the ocean waves. If he finds mermaids then I will be jealous!!!
